The film tells of a poet, who has devoted his life to the service of the Muse and the search for a meaning in life. The protagonist is a poet from Almaty in his forties, who works as a modest editor in a small Kazakh-language newspaper. He and his colleagues understand that their literary work finds less and less attention in modern society.
