Prisoners of the Second World War become hostages of war in Kazakhstan’s detention camps. Akazhan, a Kazakh officer, and Yuchi, a Japanese cadet, face violence and struggle together for their dignity, even at the expense of their lives. It is a stark choice: to die or survive for all that.
