The XII Eurasia International Film Festival was held in Almaty in 2016. The main theme of the festival was love. All the events were divided into three parts:
Love for the city – film screenings in public places of Almaty: cafes, parks, universities;
Love for the Cinema – the main competitive and non–competitive program that took place at the Kinopark 11 IMAX Esentai cinema;
Love for the Profession – a series of master classes, press conferences, round tables and professional meetings of industry representatives.
The same words – love for the profession – could characterize the creative path of the famous Soviet and Kazakh actor Yuri Pomerantsev, who at the age of 93 (!) won the prize for the best male role at the festival.
The jury of the international competition was headed by the famous Russian director Valery Todorovsky. For the first time, a short film competition was also held at the festival.
