In 2017, the XIII Eurasia International Film Festival decided to change the place of residence and was held in Astana. The theme of the festival was “Communication of cultures”, consonant with the concept of the international exhibition “Expo”, which was also held in the capital of Kazakhstan that year.
A record number of films took part in the programs of the film forum – 296, including 12 films in the main competition and 30 in the short meter competition. In the same two competitions, 14 worlds and 11 Asian premieres took place. The prizes were awarded to the laureates of Eurasia by the famous American actor, director, producer and Oscar nominee John Malkovich.
It is worth noting that within the framework of the festival, in the competition of the national award “Tulpar”, the film “ALZHIR” by Kazakh director Anuar Raibayev participated, telling about the hard fate of the prisoners of the Akmola refugee camp of the wives of traitors to the motherland. The film starred famous actors Svetlana Fortuna, Ivan Anopchenko, Altynai Nogerbek and others.

Prize for the best director’s work – Aktan Arym Kubat (“Centaur”, Kyrgyzstan).
Special Jury Prize – “Pomegranate garden” (Azerbaijan).
Special Jury Prize – «Way station» (Vietnam).
Prize for the best female role – Iya Shugliashvili («Моя счастливая семья», Грузия).
Prize for the best male role – Gurban Ismailov (“Pomegranate garden”, Azerbaijan).
Grand Prix of the Short Meter Competition – animated film “The dog” (Kazakhstan).
FIPRESCI Jury Prize – «Arrhythmia» (Russia), dir. Boris Khlebnikov.
NETPAC Jury Prize – «Centaur» (Kyrgyzstan), dir. Aktan Arym Kubat.
