A roundtable on the topic "Artificial intelligence: creative synergy” was held as part of the business platform at the 17th Eurasia International Film Festival. Participants discussed the role of AI in contemporary film production and its impact on creative industries. The discussion covered a wide range of topics, from the potential of AI in creating visual effects to the ethical considerations of using technology in arts.
In recent years, the influence of AI on the economy and creative processes has grown immensely, and it is important for the industry to be prepared for new challenges. Rustem Bigari, CEO of the Digital Government Support Center, drew attention to how artificial intelligence is affecting government processes, including film production. He emphasized that Kazakhstan is on the path to developing its own model for using AI in various sectors.
"We are working to create an environment where startups can develop and innovative projects can be implemented. It is important that we have both concepts and legislative frameworks supporting technological progress" he said.
He also spoke about current efforts to improve the process of selecting government contracts for film production.
"We are studying the experience of countries such as South Korea, where they produce 200 films a year. This could serve as a good model for Kazakhstan, where we need to create a funnel of opportunities to support talented directors at all stages" the speaker added.
Co-founder of the Guild for the Development of Artificial Intelligence (GAID), Alibek Kelimbetov, spoke about the organization’s mission and its goals.
"We are creating the guild to support the development of AI in creative industries and also to help people adapt to the rapidly changing world of technology" he explained.
At the conclusion of the roundtable, several key takeaways were highlighted: artificial intelligence has the potential to accelerate and enhance the content creation process, but it will not replace human talent and intuition, which remain at the core of creativity.
The festival is founded and traditionally organized by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the Kazakhfilm Studio named after Shaken Aimanov entrusted with the direct organization of the event.
