Speakers at the business forums of the 17th Eurasia International Film Festival continue to share their invaluable expertise with participants. Today, a significant and timely issue – the development of children's cinema in Kazakhstaт – was the focus of discussion at the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts.
"Many assume that films for children should be cute, kind, and lighthearted. But that’s a misconception. Modern teenagers think more broadly; they are drawn to more serious themes addressed in cinema," remarked Maria Abadieva, a specialist in children's films.
Maria Abadieva, a director, animator, and film educator, underscored the importance of creating films that resonate with the real-life experiences and challenges of young people, rather than confining children's cinema to purely entertaining narratives.
Zarina Zikirova, director of the "Dreamer" Film Festival, and director Bekentai Azhibekov highlighted that Kazakhstan's children's cinema needs not only creative freedom but also robust government support to bring ambitious and meaningful projects to life.
The festival is founded and traditionally organized by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the Kazakhfilm Studio named after Shaken Aimanov entrusted with the direct organization of the event, with the support of the Almaty City Akimat.
