As part of the 17th Eurasia International Film Festival, Salem Entertainment, Kazakhstan's leading production company, hosted an inspiring masterclass that brought together both aspiring and seasoned professionals in the film industry.
The session featured renowned cinematographer Bagdat Arginov, celebrated for his work on acclaimed projects such as “Sheker”, “5:32”, “Serzhan Bratan”, and “Kazakh Business in Brazil”.
During the event, Arginov delved into the key principles of his craft and offered insights into what defines true professionalism in cinematography.
"When I first entered the world of cinema, I was asked what sets an amateur cinematographer apart from a professional. My initial thoughts were about lighting, equipment, and the camera. But the answer I received was this: an amateur focuses on creating beautiful shots, while a professional cinematographer examines the script in depth, treating it as an album where every frame is interconnected and serves to tell a cohesive story. For me, the essence of a script lies in studying the story and bringing it to life visually, like an artist," Arginov shared.
The masterclass, organized by Salem Entertainment, was a significant contribution to the growth of Kazakhstan's film industry, inspiring participants to craft compelling visual stories where every frame is infused with purpose and depth.
The festival is founded and traditionally organized by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the Kazakhfilm Studio named after Shaken Aimanov entrusted with the direct organization of the event.
