PAGES OF HISTORY: CHARLES AZNAVOUR

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great French chansonnier Charles Aznavour. According to a joint survey by Time magazine and CNN, he was recognized as the best pop performer of the 20th century.

But Aznavour also had close ties to the world of cinema. Throughout his life, he starred in more than 60 films, many of which have become classics. He also wrote scripts for five films, and was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival and the César Award from the French Academy of Cinema.

The legendary artist had the opportunity to visit Kazakhstan, thanks to our festival. In 2013, Aznavour was a guest of the Eurasia International Film Festival, where he was awarded a special prize For Contribution to World Art. The visit of the 89-year-old maestro became a true highlight of the entire festival.
